The best way to learn science is to do science!

From serving as a yearlong Scientist-in-Residence to being the sole instructor for an upper-level Geochemistry course, I’ve taught, mentored, and done outreach for students from grade school through graduate school.


Right: Science Friday 2014 as a Scientist-in-Residence for the Think Globally, Learn Locally program. We’re prepping pepper samples to determine how spicy they are (capsaicin content).

Valencia, an undergraduate mentee, presenting her research on how field sampling methodologies affect leaf wax n-alkane metrics at the 2023 Midwest Geobiology Symposium.
